The RiverHawks softball team had the weekend to rest after splitting a road doubleheader against Southwest Baptist on Thursday, April 5. In a low scoring series, the RiverHawks came away with a 1-0 victory in the top of the series before losing 1-0 in extra innings.

“I think both teams played great defense and that’s why the scores were so low,” said Clay Davis, NSU softball head coach. “I would’ve liked to seen us play a little better at the plate, but Southwest Baptist is an excellent defensive squad.

Haley Arcey, Baytown, Texas junior, scored the RiverHawks lone run in the first game in the top of the fourth inning. Gale Young, Collinsville freshman pitcher, recorded the victory for the RiverHawks on the mound, recording seven strikeouts, surrendering three hits and zero runs.
