Transferring from Texas A&M, Caleb Smith, junior guard, will be a player on most team’s radar going into this 2018-19 season. Before playing his first two years of NCAA eligibility at Texas A&M, Smith played high school basketball at Notre Dame prep and Bridgeport High School in Bridgeport, Texas. Smith helped Bridgeport win a Class 4A state title in 2015 and was named MVP.

He then went to play basketball for Texas A&M his freshmen and sophomore year, while starting in 30 games during his last year there.

He then official signed as a RiverHawk on Aug. 8 by NSU men’s basketball head coach Mark Downey, who added many new faces to his roster before this season.

“I’m a simple person that doesn’t need much,” said Smith. “I love it here at NSU. The coaching staff run the program as if it was a (division one school), so there really isn’t much of a difference. The thing I like the most about NSU would be the guys on the team. I think we have a great group of guys that are dedicated.”
