This weekend the NSU women’s and men’s basketball teams played the MIAA/GAC conference challenge. In the Friday games the women lost against ECU with the score of 39-57. The men however won their first game against SWOSU with the score of 86-95.

“We were up by 20 points going into the last few minutes of play,” said Halie Wright, The Colony Texas senior. “We let SWOSO score around ten points, but we maintained the lead until the end and won by nine, it was a great game to watch.”

During the games on Saturday the women fell to Northwestern Oklahoma, 71-76, but the men won their game against the Rangers with the final score of 80-73. Tanner Mouse scored 16 points for the RiverHawks. Josh Ihek scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half and added six rebounds. Trent Cantrell and Caleb Smith both put up 12 points to make up the rest of the NSU quad who were in double digits.

Students are always encouraged to attend games to cheer on their fellow RiverHawks. The next game will be played at 7 p.m. Monday Nov. 19 in the Event Center, where the men’s basketball will take on Oklahoma Baptist. The home games are free to attend for NSU students and faculty and tickets can be downloaded on go.nsuok.edu.
