RiverHawks widen lead at MIAA Women’s Golf Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo.  – Northeastern State is one round away from its third convective MIAA Women's Golf Championship after extending their lead to ten strokes on Tuesday.  

The RiverHawks carded a tournament low 317 in their second trip through the Swope Memorial Golf Course with Kelsey Lumpkin scoring a team low 77 (+5). 

With a two-day total at 636, NSU will need to fend of rivals Central Oklahoma who sits in second place.   Lindenwood (648) and Missouri Western (649) are also in the hunt to try to knock the RiverHawks off of their championship bid. 

Ebba Moberg slipped down a pair of spots from the medalist lead and is in third with a 157 (78-79).  The NSU junior is three strokes off the lead which is held by Shi Qing Ong of Missouri Western.

Just behind and vying for a high finish is Halie Wright who is tied for fifth scoring a 160 (81-79).  Lumpkin made the RiverHawks largest improvement in the second round and shaved seven shots on Tuesday with a 77 and is tied for eighth place (161).

Lexi Armon is tied for tenth (79-83=162) and Sumie Francois landed at 15th overall (81-82=163)

Through 36 holes, the RiverHawks have dropped in 89 pars scores with Moberg tied for the individual tournament high with 21.

Northeastern State will be final group on the course on Wednesday where they will tee-off on the first pin at 10:10 a.m.
