There has been a high demand at NSU for new intramural competitive sports, and with the Fit now open, the campus is finding a new demand for wider variety of student activity. Harry Potter fans throughout NSU were ecstatic to hear Quidditch would make its debut as an official NSU Intramural sport.

The Harry Potter sport has been adapted to fit in as an Intramural competition, and so far, the idea seems to be well received.

“There are seven players per team and each player must keep a hand on the broomstick and the broomstick between their legs at all times,” said Shayla Lovy, Sapulpa sophomore. “It’s been really entertaining so far.”

With a sport this complex and not as well practiced as other competitions, the intramural office took sufficient time to plan the rules and workings of the competition.

“We currently have three teams competing, and so far the players are learning quick and having a good time,” said Shane Hubert, Nowata junior. “Our first day of competition was just free play to help the players and referees really get an understanding of the rules.”

With only three teams competing, competition should be finished by the end of the week, but so far with the positive reception, Quidditch will remain on the list of sports for NSU Intramurals. “It’s been fun,” said Austin Baker, Mounds freshman. “Its different, and learning how to play has been a process, but so far, a lot of fun.”
