NSU women’s golf in third at Central Region Preview

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Northeastern State is in the hunt after the first round of the Central Region Preview on Monday carding a 310 to land in third place overall.

The RiverHawks are defending champions of the invitational in a field made of up of many of the region's top programs.  Kelsey Lumpkin paced her squad with a 76, which is two shots off the lead, and tied for ninth place; Lexi Armon is a shot back with a 77.

Not far behind NSU's top two scores is Sumie Francois who had a 78 and Ebba Moberg carded a 79.  Halie Wright rounded out the RiverHawks' starting five with an 81.

Armon, Francois, Lumpkin, and Moberg all had 11 pars on the course.

Southwestern Oklahoma led the 18-team field after the first day with a 301 and paces invite host Arkansas Tech by seven shots.   Four players are all locked up for the medalist lead with a 74 (+2).

Teams will return to the course with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the final round on Tuesday morning.
