RiverHawks to host NCAA Central Region Championship

INDIANAPOLIS – For the third season in a row Northeastern State will be the Central Region's top seed and will host the opening-round matches for the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship.

Tuesday evening's announcement was more of a formality for the RiverHawks who already earned an automatic qualifier by winning its second straight MIAA Tournament Title and was the region's top-ranked team by a long shot.

Carrying an 18-4 overall record into the National Tournament, the RiverHawks will host No.4 Oklahoma Baptist (13-4) and No. 5 Augustana (21-3) on Saturday, April 28; the winner will face Northeastern State on the following day.

The winner of the regional will advance to the NCAA Round of 16 that will be held on May 8-11 in Surprise, Ariz.  Northeastern State has advanced to the final-16 for the last five seasons.

This is the 16th NCAA Championship appearance and sixth straight for Northeastern State.
