NSU men’s soccer announces captains for 2018 season

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State senior midfielder Joe Garcia and defender Bailey Weeks were tabbed as captains for the 2018 season, head coach Rob Czlonka announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Garcia was an All-American selection by the coaches and media last season after he led the RiverHawks with 13 goals.  The Grand Prairie, Texas native has been named All-MIAA and All-Region three times, and holds the program record by having goals in six consecutive matches.  Weeks has been an anchor on the NSU defense in his two playing seasons, and has been named All-MIAA twice.  For his work in the classroom, Weeks is a two-time MIAA Scholar Athlete, and earned an academic award from the D2ADA this past summer.
"We look for servant leadership in our captains, guys that have the ability to think about what is best for the team before they think of themselves," said Czlonka.
"Obviously Bailey has been a captain for us in the past and has really grown into a great player and man, and we are excited to have him back setting the example for our group. Joe has been the foundation of our offense and midfield for the past few years, and brings a level of intensity to training and games that help drive our team forward. I think that both these young men provide a level of professionalism and leadership that our team needs and we are looking forward to watching them lead us out on game days."
