NSU women's basketball opens 2017-18 season with MIAA/GAC Challenge

Since the 2004-05 season the RiverHawks are 15-6 against Southeastern Oklahoma, and have won nine of their last 11 meetings.  Northeastern State last visited SESU in 2012 and won in a lopsided 80-57 contest.  In four meetings with Northwestern Oklahoma, the RiverHawks are undefeated and picked up their first win last season against the Rangers.  The win was former NSU head coach Randy Gipson's 600th career victory.

Since 2012, the RiverHawks are 3-2 against the Rangers and won in their last outing at Percefull Fieldhouse which also in the 2012-13 season (83-77).   All five contests have been battles on both sides of the ball, despite a 91-80 loss last season to the Rangers, the RiverHawks erased a 17-point deficit to force overtime.

The Northeastern State-Central Oklahoma series is the oldest and longest active rivalry games for the RiverHawks' football program.  The 2017 edition will be the 78th meeting between the two programs in a series that started in 1912.  In the last four decades, the series has been clumped in both directions, and the last time the teams traded wins back-and-forth was between 1974-77.  Northeastern State trails the overall series 47-28-2 to the Bronchos.
