NSU Baseball picked 11th in MIAA Coaches' Poll

Northeastern State is selected to finish in 11th place in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) baseball standings according to the league's preseason poll that was released on Wednesday.

The RiverHawks lead the overall series with Southwest Baptist 12-7 but have lost the last three meetings in a row. In the series that started in the 1965-66 season, Northeastern State won the first nine meetings with the Bearcats. As MIAA member schools, the RiverHawks are winless in three meetings in Bolivar and are 2-5 in league play.

The RiverHawks have won five of the last seven meetings with the Bearcats and are 4-4 while playing at Southwest Baptist.  In the 16 meetings with SBU, the RiverHawks trail the series 9-7.  In the prior meeting this season, Northeastern State overwhelmed the Bearcats during the third quarter in the NSU Event Center with a 69-52 win.  NSU junior Bailee Eldred had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Jamir Andrews' sixth 20-point game was not enough for the RiverHawks who could not slow down Pittsburg State's hot shooting at the arc to fall 96-82 on Saturday afternoon at the NSU Event Center.  The Gorillas (13-8, 6-6 MIAA) shot 57.7 percent from three-point range knocking down 15 of their 26 attempts on NSU (6-14, 2-9 MIAA).
