The RiverHawks women’s basketball team has clinched the final playoff spot in the MIAA postseason tournament. The postseason birth is the RiverHawks’ 16th in the NCAA era and their fifth appearance in the MIAA tournament.

Despite a recent seven-game skid, the RiverHawks’ current 5-12 conference record has earned them a spot in the postseason.

“One of our preseason goals was to earn a spot in the tournament and we accomplished that,” said Fala Bullock, NSU women’s basketball head coach. “We feel great to have accomplished it but we’re not satisfied.”

The chance of moving up in the MIAA standings before the regular season ends is still a possibility for the RiverHawks. With two home games against Emporia State and Washburn this week, the RiverHawks have a chance to move up from their current No. 12 spot in the rankings with victories. They matchup with Emporia State on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. and Washburn on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1:30 p.m.
