The members of Tau Kappa Epsilon have their TKE in a Box event each semester. TKE in a Box is a philanthropy event benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The members take turns living in a wooden box to represent struggle. The box is constructed by hand and is often decorated with lights, blankets and entertainment to make the week more bearable.

“You’re totally allowed to go up to the box to say hey and hang out,” said Bryson Perkins, TKE secretary. “The members of TKE are responsible for having men at the box 24/7, day or night and rain or shine. TKE is passionate about philanthropy and we love what the people at St. Jude do, so this event is important to us because we know whatever amount we raise will mean a lot to a child and their family this year. We request, as we give up beds, heat and hours of sleep, that those who pass by or hang out at the box can spare a few dollars or donate a toy to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for this holiday season.”

The box is located in front of the UC for the week of Nov. 27 through Dec. 1. Members raised more than $250 on the first day and hope to continue the week just as strong.
