American Indian Heritage Month is celebrated at NSU every November with a variety of events. NSU has organized many events and activities in the past for American Indian Heritage Month. This month empowers Native Americans to celebrate and share their culture and experiences. Many of the events are interactive and it makes the learning experience more impactful and memorable. This month works to facilitate ongoing relationships, exchange, learning and appreciation of diverse Native American people and cultures.

Throughout the month of October, the NSU department of criminology, justice studies and global security is taking part in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's annual campaign, National Cyber Security Awareness Month.


Town Branch Creek significance ties to NSU

The Town Branch Creek, located most notably to the north of The Branch, serves many purposes in Tahlequah and on NSU’s campus. When Seminary Hall was rebuilt in 1889, it served as a dorm building with a kitchen. For this reason, Seminary Hall was purposely placed near the creek so the creek could serve as a water source for the kitchen and for the students living in the building.
