NSU embraces Native American history with the third annual Indigenous People’s Day

Plans for the third annual NSU Indigenous People's Day are in place, and it is shaping up to be another eventful year for the holiday. In 2016, NSU President Steve Turner officially declared that the university will observe Indigenous People’s Day annually on the second Monday of October. This would replace the traditionally recognized Columbus Day.

The Stonewall Equality Alliance embarks on social activism

The Stonewall Equality Alliance introduces students to leadership opportunities for LGBTQ advocacy at NSU and in the community. The mission of Stonewall is to create an open environment to tolerance, while creating a support network for LGBTQ students.

IDC prepares for fall semester performances

Impressions Dance Company is a professional dance company that strives to encourage and develop art through different genres of music. The company is led by a staff adviser, student director and a student leadership team. By having students lead students, they are able to connect personally and discover different levels of abilities. IDC is preparing for a new year and welcoming new dancers.

NSU Wesley continues to support students despite funding loss

The NSU Wesley Foundation is a campus ministry sponsored by the United Methodist Church. The foundation is supported by the Oklahoma Methodist Conference. In recent years, the budget has been slashed in ways that impact the campus ministry. Each year, the conference issues a budget pertaining to campus Wesley Foundations around the state. The budget amount has decreased more than half in the last few years alone. It is thought that by 2019 the budget will be entirely depleted. These budgets cuts are directly impacting NSU’s Wesley Foundation.
