NSU women’s soccer started off their 2018 fall season by winning six out of the twelve games they have played. The RiverHawks started Sunday’s game against Lindenwood University off strong as Meagan Chase scored 18 minutes into the game, but just moments later a storm hit and the game was delayed.

The storm passed almost an hour and a half later, and the game started back up. During the first half Lindenwood ties the score with a shot made from Morgan Weller in the 21st minute of play. During the second half, NSU’s Paulina Chavez scored another goal for the RiverHawks in the 53rd minute. Lindenwood’s Katie Richter managed to score a goal in the 63rd minute. The final score of the game was a 2-2 draw.

“Rain delays are always annoying in any outside sports event,” said Nathan Wike, NSU senior. “Not only for the supporting crowd, but also for the players. They have to warm up both physically and mentally all over again.”

The NSU women’s soccer team will be back in action again at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 at Deloache Field in Tahlequah. All NSU students get in for free and are encouraged to come and support the RiverHawks as they take on Washburn.
