Many college students love to start their mornings with a cup of coffee to get their day going. Occasionally, however, students will need a boost during the day to remain productive. In a survey by Nationalcoffee.blog, they concluded that 22% of all beverages consumed by the average college student is some form of coffee. In order to help NSU students have easier access to coffee, Randilyn Thompson, Northeastern Student Government Association senator, has begun a petition to add coffee to the meal trade at the River’s Edge during every meal.
“I have appreciated having the opportunity to have a latte with my morning breakfast but I have noticed that sometimes I find myself buying a coffee to drink with my lunch,” said Thompson. “I thought if I was doing this, then other students may also be doing this. My goal is to gain insight from others, and to eventually have the opportunity to get coffee on meal trade as a substitution for a fountain drink throughout the day at the River's Edge.”
A poll was held on the NSGA Instagram page and was met with great reception. More polls are to be held in the future.
